A Little About Denison
A classic Texas town with a story
Denison is a classic Texas town with a story. It's the birthplace of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and his childhood home still stands here as a state historic site. Its historic downtown along Main Street is known for charming shops, local restaurants, a food truck park, and the Katy Depot, a restored railroad station that now houses the Red River Railroad Museum. Small town roots, real character, and the kind of community where people know their neighbors.
Main Street, A Downtown Comeback
Denison's historic heartbeat
Denison's historic Main Street is one of the most celebrated downtowns in the country. In 2025, Denison earned the Great American Main Street Award, one of only three national winners and only the third Texas city ever to take the top honor. It also won the inaugural Best Texas Downtown Award. The city invested more than $14 million into the first phase of its streetscape project, uncovering the historic beauty of 98 two-story buildings along downtown. Today that downtown district generates about 28 percent of the city's total sales tax revenue, and it anchors a community that gathers for festivals, food, music and small town events throughout the year.
